Brian Geraghty may not return for The Alienist sequel
Brian Geraghty’s The Alienist is getting a follow-up limited series, but the former Chicago PD star might not be part of The Angel of Darkness.
Brian Geraghty is enjoying critical acclaim as part of TNT‘s The Alienist, but the actor may be on his way out of yet another TV project.
TNT announced recently that it has ordered The Angel of Darkness, a second limited series that is going to pick up where The Alienist left off.
However, Geraghty was not mentioned in the list of returning cast members. One Chicago Center reached out to TNT for clarification, and network representatives did not confirm or deny that he will be part of the sequel.
So could he be leaving his first series regular role since Chicago PD? Fans will have to wait and see what develops.

Brian Geraghty was billed as a series regular in The Alienist, playing Theodore Roosevelt before he was named President of the United States.
However, he wasn’t the star of the show, which centers around characters played by Luke Evans, Dakota Fanning, and Daniel Bruhl.
So while Geraghty could easily return for The Angel of Darkness, it also wouldn’t be a huge surprise if he did not, given that his character was prominent but not crucial to the story.

If he doesn’t come back, that will bring an early end to his first TV regular part since playing Sean Roman on Chicago PD for two seasons.
Geraghty chose to leave after Chicago PD season 3 to pursue other opportunities, and Roman was written out as having moved to San Diego after being shot during the third season. It made sense as it wasn’t the first time Roman was hurt in the line of duty:
But whether or not Geraghty continues in his current role, he has plenty to be proud of. Billed as a limited series, The Alienist recently earned six Emmy Award nominations. That made the actor an Emmy nominee, since one of them was for Outstanding Limited Series, which would include all of the main cast members.
And he was the only actor with One Chicago connections to earn Emmys recognition this year, since the franchise itself was snubbed again. While there’s no clue yet if he’ll return for another go-around, he’s already accomplished a lot in this role, and found his own success since saying goodbye to Chicago PD.
