Where we left off

After the second season broke almost everything April Sexton had, Chicago Med made things a lot easier for her in the third season. Season 2 saw April have more issues with her tuberculosis, lose her unborn child, and end her engagement to Tate Jenkins (recurring guest star Deron J. Powell) as they both grieved.

But her fortune was soon looking up. April and Tate ended their engagement in the 17th episode of the second season, but by episode 23 she was sharing a kiss with Dr. Ethan Choi (Brian Tee). In the third season that picked up just a few months later, the duo were in a full-blown romantic relationship, and spending an awful lot of time at Choi’s apartment. Either they were already living together or they weren’t far off.

April’s relationship with Choi hit a snag, though, in the form of his troubled sister Emily Choi (recurring guest star Arden Cho). April caught Emily with drugs in Choi’s apartment, then was also the one to suspect that Emily had stolen drugs from the hospital while employed there during the mass shooting in “This Is Now.”

When April’s suspicions were later proven correct and Emily wound up being the latest Chicago Med family member to need medical treatment, Choi intended for his sister to return home with them, but April told him that she would not be there. So did she stick to her threat and move out, potentially jeopardizing her new relationship?
