Chicago PD season 6: Predictions about the new season
What’s going to happen in Chicago PD season 6? One Chicago Center makes its predictions about what’s ahead in the new Chicago PD season.
The new season of Chicago PD is coming to NBC in just over a week, which means it’s time for our annual pre-season predictions of what to expect from the 21st District’s Intelligence Unit!
When we left off, things looked bleak on the second One Chicago show. Alvin Olinsky (Elias Koteas) was killed off for a surprising reason, leaving the rest of the team stunned and trying to pick up the pieces. At least longtime adversary Denny Woods (Mykelti Williamson) was also gone, too, but we want to know what happens now.
So we’re predicting what’s coming up in Chicago PD season 6, based on what we’ve learned over the summer and what we know about the show over the past three seasons. Will these possibilities make you more excited about the upcoming season?
Here are our Chicago PD predictions:

1) Voight will act out
Hank Voight (Jason Beghe) has always been a bit off the rails, but based on how the last season ended, he should be on full tilt now. Voight had a breakdown at the death of Olinsky, and he’s not just going to get over that.
Plus, it’s been proven that when Voight is emotional, he lashes out. When his son died, he went and killed the man who did it. When he thinks someone is in the way of an investigation, even if they’re innocent, he won’t hesitate to get in their face.
So he’s going to do something stupid and/or violent in the wake of his best friend’s death, and you can’t blame him.

2) Burzek will make a comeback
Chicago PD didn’t give us a definitive answer about Burzek in season 4. It didn’t give us an answer in season 5. The show is due to clearly state what’s going on between Adam Ruzek (Patrick John Flueger) and his ex-fiancee Kim Burgess (Marina Squerciati), and we’re going to bet it’s that they get back together.
Why? They slept together last season, so there’s clearly still an attraction. They both deserve a shoulder to lean on after what happened to them in that season (Ruzek’s mole problem and Kim breaking up with her then-boyfriend). And, most of all, because Chicago PD needs a new main ship now that it can’t write Linstead anymore.
3) We’ll continue to learn more about Upton
There’s a lot still unexplored about Hailey Upton (Tracy Spiridakos). Though last season gave away some big clues, it didn’t answer every question. And based on the screen time she got as the show established her last season, Chicago PD is going to use her a lot going forward.
With that in mind, it makes sense that Upton will continue to be seen a lot in the sixth season. She still has a lot of individual story to be told, and her partnership with Jay Halstead (Jesse Lee Soffer) quickly became the show’s best professional pairing. Why mess with what’s clearly working?
