What should fans watch for in the Chicago PD midseason finale? Get ready for tonight’s episode with our Chicago PD season 6, episode 9 preview.

One Chicago fans will love that the Chicago PD midseason finale is focused on Antonio Dawson (Jon Seda). They may hate where the episode takes him, though.

Wednesday’s installment is called “Descent” because it takes Antonio all the way down to what is unquestionably rock bottom. It’s a long fall, considering that he started Chicago PD season 6 being in charge of the Intelligence Unit.

But the last few episodes introduced the idea of Antonio becoming reliant on painkillers, and have continued to hint at it being a problem in small scenes. Now, fans are going to see it become the ‘A’ story of an episode.

The question is, at what price?

This story arc is showing fans Antonio on the rocks, just like last season gave us Jay Halstead (Jesse Lee Soffer) on the rocks after being dumped and having to deal with his PTSD.

The show has developed a knack for taking its most put-together characters and turning them into total wrecks, and now it’s Antonio’s turn.

But while Halstead just needed a wake-up call, it’s worse for Antonio because he is an addict. That’s different from just making poor choices in who you sleep with.

It’s an actual medical problem, and it’s not something that he’ll get over by the end of the midseason finale, unless there’s a time jump. So how far will the show let Antonio fall? Is he going to do something he can’t take back, or lose his badge if his drug dependency comes out? Jon Seda’s not leaving, but that doesn’t mean Chicago PD can’t mess up his character.

The synopsis for “Descent” says that Antonio’s problem affects someone close to him, too, and it’s not hard to guess that it will be his children. That’s all he has left—he’s not dating Brett anymore, and his sister’s in Puerto Rico. And his kids being in trouble explains this photo a lot.

Get ready for some serious trouble, Antonio fans, and check out the sneak peek video below to see how it starts:
