Chicago Fire finally dropped the promo for its midseason premiere, but it’s not going to answer Chicago Fire season 7’s most burning question.

The new Chicago Fire promo has arrived, but it’s not what One Chicago fans were probably hoping for.

When NBC released new videos for the One Chicago franchise earlier this week, it was a surprise not to see one for Fire. It turns out that the teaser was just delayed, and has now surfaced on the show’s YouTube channel.

However, if you’re looking for clues that Matthew Casey (Jesse Spencer) survives the apartment fire, you’re going to be sorely disappointed.

The new clip tells viewers absolutely nothing about what will happen when Chicago Fire season 7 returns. That’s a sharp contrast from the promos for Chicago PD and Chicago Med, both of which revealed big spoilers (you can watch them here).

Obviously Fire doesn’t want to give away whether Casey lives or dies. That’s the big suspense that it’s hanging its hat on; it wants the audience so worried over the hiatus that they have to watch in January.

But it’s shocking that the teaser doesn’t have one frame of anything else meaningful. The entire video is Casey and his girlfriend Naomi Graham (returning guest star Kate Villanova) reacting to the fire.

A good half of it is showing Naomi hiding in Casey’s bedroom while the place burns—and is anyone that invested in her character right now?

The only tidbit that fans get is the voiceover narration that declares the midseason premiere will be “the episode that changes everything.” That sounds ominous, but at the same time, take it with a grain of salt—since this is also the show that put four main characters in a fire at the end of the fifth season and nothing really happened.

All in all, this Chicago Fire promo is a disappointment. Some fans will be sad that it doesn’t have spoilers like the other two, but even if you set that aside, it would feel much more complete if it showed anything (or anyone) else other than the cliffhanger. Certainly there are other things that will happen with Firehouse 51 other than Casey’s apartment burning.
