Wendell Pierce returning to Chicago PD in next episode
Chicago PD is returning with one of its best guest stars, as Wendell Pierce reprises his role as Alderman Ray Price in next week’s episode.
When Chicago PD comes back on Wednesday, one of the show’s most notable guest stars will be coming back, too.
As executive producer Rick Eid teased in our midseason interview, Wendell Pierce will once again play Alderman Ray Price this season. But now we know when that’s going to be—it’s in the Feb. 6 episode!
The episode is called “Night in Chicago,” and the promotional photos released by NBC show Price as part of the action. He’s having a meeting in a with frenemy Hank Voight (Jason Beghe).
Why are they meeting this time? And is this episode Wendell Pierce’s only return appearance or is it just the first time we’ll see him this season?

Those are the million-dollar questions, and the photo (which you clicked on to read this article) doesn’t give anything else away.
But if you’re a Chicago PD fan, you’ve got to be excited that Ray Price is returning sooner rather than later. And adding him back into the mix will be a shot in the arm for the political storyline that’s been going throughout the season.

Price was first introduced in last season’s premiere “Reform” when he went on the offensive over Jay Halstead’s (Jesse Lee Soffer) accidental shooting of a young girl. Voight was able to get him to back off Halstead, and Price returned later in the season—both to assist Intelligence and to try and lean on Voight for his own gain.
Price coming back into the picture now is a fantastic opportunity for Chicago PD season 6. He has the potential to be a rival for Brian Kelton (recurring guest star John C. McGinley) in the race to be Mayor; could Voight ally himself with Price if it means being able to undermine Kelton?
Plus, Wendell Pierce is one of TV’s most fantastic actors, and his chemistry with Jason Beghe is a delight to watch. He makes Price into one of the rare characters who can believably hold his own with Voight. Let’s hope he comes in and makes as much noise as possible, because that’ll make this season’s subplot even more interesting.
Pierce currently stars in Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan for Amazon, which was renewed for a second season. He also has a recurring role as Robert Zane in Suits, which returned for the second portion of its eighth season last week.
