What should fans watch for in this week’s Chicago Fire? Get ready for tonight’s episode with our Chicago Fire season 7, episode 14 preview.

The next episode of Chicago Fire utilizes a framework that One Chicago fans have become kind of familiar with: throwing characters into an unfamiliar environment and seeing what happens.

This is something the show has played with before, whether it was trapping Gabriela Dawson (Monica Raymund) in a parking garage or Matthew Casey (Jesse Spencer) in a warehouse after a chemical spill.

This time, it’s Dawson’s old partner Sylvie Brett (Kara Killmer), Emily Foster (Annie Ilonzeh) and Stella Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo) who’ve drawn the proverbial short straw.

So how are they going to fare? And what will make this episode different from the similar ones that fans have seen previously?

“It Wasn’t About Hockey” is at least a team effort. The most recent times we’ve seen this device, it’s been with one character isolated from the others. In this case, at least Brett, Foster and Stella will be able to work together and lean on one another when they need to.

Audiences also haven’t seen Foster in this kind of a situation before. And will this episode address any aftereffects from last week, where she had to deal with her psycho ex-fling Dr. Shaw?

Chicago Fire doesn’t always carry over what’s happened in the episode before, but it might be interesting if that played into this—even if it’s just Foster talking about how she’s feeling now. What happened to her was big, and this will be big, too. Plus, how long will it take until the rest of Firehouse 51 inevitably finds out what’s going on?

It could be a while, since the guys’ attention is preoccupied with yet another event. This one is the chili cook-off, so the script will probably provide all kinds of jokes about things being hot, just like “The Plunge” gave all kinds of one-liners about the cold. In that sense, it’s going to be kind of weird to see these two episodes back-to-back.

But maybe this time Firehouse 51 can win something? Watch the latest Chicago Fire sneak peek by playing the video below, and leave your predictions for “It Wasn’t About Hockey” by going to the comments underneath this article.
