Chicago Med’s doctors who have checked out in season 4
Three of Chicago Med’s staff members left the show this season. Look back at the doctors who said goodbye in Chicago Med season 4.
Did you know that Chicago Med lost three main characters this season? By the season 4 finale, three series regulars were no longer with the show.
It was a drastic change for a show that had a stable cast for its first three seasons. The series hadn’t changed its regular ensemble at all since 2015, except to add one new regular at the start of the third season. It kept the staff pretty much exactly the same.
That was until this fall, when the writers decided to take things in different directions, and that meant making changes with the team as well. Now the hospital will be just a bit smaller when it reopens its doors for season 5.
Check out all the characters who checked out of Chicago Med this season, then tell us which of them you’ll miss the most in the comments at the end of this article.
Sarah Reese
Dr. Sarah Reese (Rachel DiPillo) only appeared in one Chicago Med season 4 episode. The season premiere kicked off with Reese assisting police in their case against her father, Robert Haywood, who had been revealed last season to be a murderer.
She then confronted her surrogate father, Dr. Daniel Charles (Oliver Platt), furious with him that he knew about her dad’s crimes but had chosen not to tell her. Even though Charles explained that he hadn’t wanted to say anything if he wasn’t absolutely sure, Reese decided to quit the hospital and finish her psychiatric residency at Baylor University in Texas.
Aside from having her might-have-been boyfriend Noah Sexton (Roland Buck III) pick up some of her stuff, Reese has basically disappeared from the show since. No one other than Charles looked that affected by her departure, and she wasn’t even mentioned when everyone else was preparing for the Manstead wedding.
Off-screen, the circumstances behind Rachel DiPillo’s exit are still vague.
