What happened

Chicago Med season 4 was Connor Rhodes’ most difficult season, so perhaps it’s not a huge shock that it also wound up being his last season. Almost every episode felt like his storyline was getting out of control and bound to crash.

Connor was originally going to leave Chicago for a more prestigious job at the Mayo Clinic, but at the start of the season, he was persuaded to change his mind by getting to build and run a hybrid operating room in the Emergency Department. Several storylines saw Connor performing major surgeries right in the ED, while recruiting Maggie Lockwood (Marlyne Barrett) to lend her nursing skills to his team.

The majority of his season, though, involved his relationship with Ava Bekker (Norma Kuhling). Ava and Connor briefly got back together during the fourth season, but it didn’t last long with her erratic behavior.

Rumors swirled that she seduced his father Cornelius (recurring guest star D.W. Moffett) to fund the hybrid OR, she may have hurt herself on purpose to get Connor’s sympathy, she potentially faked kidnapping his ex-girlfriend and it’s pretty clear that she murdered his dad as a last-ditch effort to win Connor back. That was a lot of drama for one season, which ended with Connor in shock that he had ever dated such a crazy person.
