Who’s returning in Chicago Fire season 8?
Who’s returning in Chicago Fire season 8? Find out who’s expected to be part of the Chicago Fire season 8 cast and come back to Firehouse 51.
Who’s in the Chicago Fire season 8 cast? With the new season premiering in just a few weeks, fans of the NBC series may be wondering which actors and characters will be returning when the show resumes.
When the series left off, just about everyone from Firehouse 51 was literally in the line of fire, as they all rushed to help victims of a massive building fire. When the building’s boiler appeared as if it was going to explode, it seemed like at least one character would be a goner. But will anyone be killed off?
Let’s start from the top: Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney) and Matthew Casey (Jesse Spencer) are definitely returning to Chicago Fire. Both Kinney and Spencer signed contract extensions back in April—before the end of last season—that will keep them on the show through this upcoming cycle.
Also a lock to return is Wallace Boden (Eamonn Walker). Walker was seen at NBC’s Upfronts in May and it wouldn’t make sense to have him there promoting the series if he wasn’t coming back this season.

What about everyone else? Sylvie Brett (Kara Killmer) is the big question mark, since she was last seen getting engaged, but Brett features prominently in the new season’s promotional ad and also the One Chicago franchise key art, so it’s a fair bet she’ll return.
Christopher Herrmann (David Eigenberg), Joe Cruz (Joe Minoso), Stella Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo), Mouch (Christian Stolte), Otis (Yuri Sardarov) and Emily Foster (Annie Ilonzeh) are all seen in the key art and the teaser as well, so it is entirely possible that the whole Chicago Fire cast is coming back.
This wouldn’t be the first time the show has had a life-threatening cliffhanger and managed to kill no one—remember the fifth season?
Fans will find out for sure when the new season begins Sept. 25 at 9 p.m. on NBC.
