Who’s returning in Chicago Med season 5? Find out who’s expected to be part of the Chicago Med season 5 cast and come back to the hospital.

The new Chicago Med season is about to start, but with the cast changes that took place earlier this year plus last season’s cliffhanger ending, viewers may be wondering who’s going to be in the Chicago Med season 5 cast.

There are a few pieces of information that have surfaced over hiatus that clue fans into who’s back for the new episodes. Even though Dr. Natalie Manning (Torrey DeVitto) was severely injured in a car accident that ended season 4, she’s front and center in the show’s new artwork.

Not only that but DeVitto has posted photos with other One Chicago actors on her Instagram as recently as last week. So Natalie is clearly not being killed off.

April Sexton (Yaya DaCosta) and Ethan Choi (Brian Tee) have become a bigger part of the show’s promotional efforts, with NBC adding several April and Choi videos to Med‘s official Youtube over the break. The network wouldn’t be hyping up Chexton if either one of them were leaving.

Dr. Daniel Charles (Oliver Platt), Dr. Will Halstead (Nick Gehlfuss), Maggie Lockwood (Marlyne Barrett) and Sharon Goodwin (S. Epatha Merkerson) are all included in the Chicago Med promo art for this season, so they’re considered reasonably safe. But that brings us to a major source of some confusion for One Chicago fans.

Although Dr. Connor Rhodes (Colin Donnell) and Dr. Ava Bekker (Norma Kuhling) are also shown in the key art, they are not returning as series regulars. The two will be back in the Sept. 25 premiere only, to wrap up their respective storylines, and those will be their final appearances.

It’s odd that NBC included them in the season’s promo artwork when they’re  both only doing one episode, but they are definitely not sticking around.

A few recurring guest stars are, though: med student Elsa Curry (Molly Bernard) will be back, as Molly mentioned in our interview, and DeVitto posted a recent photo that includes Ian Harding, who plays Natalie’s boyfriend Phillip Davis.
