In this article, we’re profiling Hailey Upton (Tracy Spiridakos).

Where we left off

Hailey Upton’s second full season on Chicago PD was also the character’s busiest. Professionally, she was a player in several cases, whether it was questioning the ethics of what was going on, or facing down a crooked alderman at gunpoint. She and Kim Burgess (Marina Squerciati) were also abducted by some arms dealers in the episode “Ties That Bind.”

But when most One Chicago fans look back on this season as it relates to Upton, they’re going to think about her personal life. That’s because she entered into an impulsive fling with Adam Ruzek (Patrick John Flueger), which quickly became the show’s primary ship. Ruzek wanted them to get a place together, the two were often seen at home together, and a lot of drama was wrung out of whether or not his ex-fiancee Burgess would find out (she did).

Ruzek and Upton eventually broke up near the end of the season, or went on “a break” as it was called by the official YouTube channel. And Upton’s past, including some abuse, was detailed in the episode “True or False.” But the bulk of her season was about who she was sleeping with, and Upzek’s effect on the Intelligence Unit.
