Chicago PD season 7, episode 4 preview: Infection, Part 3
What should fans watch for in tonight’s Chicago PD? Get ready for Infection, Part 3 with our Chicago PD season 7, episode 4 preview.
Once again Chicago PD is the last part of the One Chicago crossover, so what can fans expect from the show this time that they haven’t seen before?
Longtime One Chicago viewers know that PD is almost always the finale of every crossover. If it’s a two-show event or a three-show one, like tonight, it doesn’t matter; it all gets resolved with the police.
There’s a reason for that. All of the crossovers involve some sort of criminal behind the disaster, because that’s what extends the story across two or three hours. If it was just a huge fire, or a big accident, there wouldn’t be enough plot.
So it’s no spoiler to say that in “Infection” the Intelligence team will be looking for the person who released a flesh-eating virus in the Windy City.

And because this is Chicago PD, it’s going to be more about action than investigation. Anybody who’s able to get their hands on a deadly virus is dangerous, and that will provide this episode with plenty of scenes where the team has their guns drawn, are chasing a suspect, kicking in doors—all the stuff that viewers have come to expect from this show.
The photos from the earlier parts of the crossover have revealed that Hailey Upton (Tracy Spiridakos) is the character personally affected by the situation, which is another common element of crossovers. So how will she react in this episode?

Will Upton be 100 percent as she returns to duty? Will she be emotionally compromised because of whatever she’s been through in the other two hours? Once again, Hailey has a big role to play here, and will anyone question her ability to do her job after being affected by the virus?
And she might not be the only one—after rookie Vanessa Rojas (Lisseth Chavez) made all kinds of mistakes last week, one can only hope she steps up her game in this crossover or she could also be in trouble.
One interesting tidbit that fans may overlook is that this episode features new Chicago Med hero Dr. Crockett Marcel (Dominic Rains) making his first crossover appearance. We haven’t really seen Crockett under pressure either, and if he’s going to prove himself to One Chicago fans overall, this would be a great time to do it.
“I got to work with Eriq La Salle. He directed me in the PD crossover portion,” Dominic told us when we spoke to him before tonight’s big event. How did he describe working on another show for the first time?
“As an actor, they just say, ‘Here’s what you say. This is your mark. You hit this,'” he explained. “You do your best to be as prepared as you can. And then you trust your director, you trust the actors around you, and you hope and wish that you’ve come in having done as much work as you can.”
It’s the officers and detectives who will have to do most of the work in this episode, and it’s hard to imagine them not catching the bad guy. The question will be, how will they do it? And how big of an ending will we get?
