Stella and Brett will have a BFF moment

Severide isn’t the only character who’s stepped into a new role. Stella became an academy instructor in Chicago Fire season 8, on top of her regular duties with Truck 81. A usually confident Stella was slightly dazed after her first day as a teacher, and while she assured Casey it wouldn’t happen again, we can’t help but wonder: will it all be too much for Stella to handle?

Stella is incredibly tough—Chicago Fire has proven that numerous times—but she’s also not one to immediately ask for help when she needs it. Remember when her ex-husband resurfaced a few seasons ago? Stella thought she had a handle on it, until he went nuts and attacked her. She likes to think she’s got it together, but will it all come crashing down on her when it matters most? If she were to get distracted on another call, it could hurt or kill an innocent victim or one of her colleagues.

While Stella tries to balance her work life, we’ve seen Brett try to walk the line between personal and professional when it comes to dating people she meets on the job. She attempted to stay friends with Ryan, a social worker she met in “Badlands,” but when the man asked her out to lunch, she mistakenly assumed it wasn’t a date.

Brett let Ryan down easy, but that makes two strikes this Chicago Fire season in her personal life, the first being the dissolution of her engagement to Kyle Sheffield (Teddy Sears) in “A Real Shot in the Arm.”

Then there’s the lingering question surrounding her closeness with Casey, as the two have had fans wondering “will they, or won’t they” for some time now. With Dawson returning during what we know will be a big Chicago Fire season 8 episode, the potential relationship will most likely be put on pause, or at least on the back burner.

Both of these characters have a lot going on, and the show likes to emphasize the friendship of its female heroes (see: the women’s lounge, the multiple scenes of gossip), so expect Stella and Brett to have a big moment where one or both help each other with big decisions.
