Marcel will spoil Chexton

Manstead isn’t the only Chicago Med relationship that’s been rocky this season. Although Chexton have been fairly solid in Chicago Med season 5, the latest episodes have created a few bumps in their once-blissful road.

The first hurdle was Ethan’s overzealous approach to April’s fertility, which made her question if they were really on the same page when it came to their future together. This bled into the second obstacle, which was when Marcel attempted to kiss April at the hospital’s crawfish boil.

That party was also the place where Ethan came to apologize for his behavior to April, and she subsequently hid the almost-kiss with Marcel. Despite the aforementioned incident, April has still worked alongside Marcel. Their professional collaborations have been successes so far, even if their personal conflicts have shown otherwise.

She did have a bone to pick with Marcel over his secret keeping that inadvertently landed her brother, Noah (Roland Buck III) in the hospital. Noah told Marcel that he was going to take Jacinta (the would-be gang member from a few episodes ago) home, and Marcel promised not to tell April. When Noah was brought back to Chicago Med with broken ribs and a beaten-up face, Crockett was torn between his mentorship of Noah and his increasingly odd relationship with April.

April did find out about Marcel’s deception, and in turn was left angered over his lie to her. The two had to put their personal issue aside when Noah was coding in the OR. Marcel ended up saving Noah’s life by performing surgery that was originally denied by ED chief Dr. James Lanik (recurring guest star Nate Santana). This showed April that Marcel did care about her brother, and so when she offered her thanks, Ethan noticed the lingering look in Marcel’s eyes.

Between their differing opinions on cases, not to mention Marcel’s charisma, April and Ethan will have some trouble ahead in the Chicago Med midseason finale. All the evidence points to a confrontation, but whether it’s between April and Marcel, or Ethan and Marcel remains to be seen.
