What’s next

We have seen Vanessa Rojas in all of the Chicago PD episodes through the midseason finale “Absolution,” which is a good sign for her character’s status on the show. Whether she’s more in the background or featured prominently, she brings a new energy to the table, and offers another perspective for audiences to consider.

With Vanessa’s current living situation being with Hailey Upton, it makes sense that their friendship continues to grow. They both have quick wits and a little bit of sassiness, making them a pretty badass partnership that deserves more screen time.

Maybe since last year’s season spotlighted Kim and Hailey with “Ties That Bind,” this year’s season will bring Vanessa out. She’s obviously proven herself to be a great undercover, so playing that up would be one way to allow us to see her in action.

Remember that possible romance we mentioned earlier? Well, if Chicago PD wants to go in that direction, there will need to be an episode that puts Rowater front and center. The midseason finale actually featured the duo undercover at the drug exchange meant to get Jay back; a couple episodes before saw them play a couple – so maybe that’s the PD way of dropping hints.

No matter if it’s with her personal or professional life, it’s no secret that more details are needed on newcomer Vanessa Rojas. Lisseth Chavez has done a phenomenal job thus far, and it would be a shame to let her talent fall by the wayside. Here’s hoping Vanessa Rojas gets another chance to shine during Chicago PD’s seventh season.
