Chicago Med’s Colin Donnell and Patti Murin co-star in Hallmark movie
Chicago Med alums Colin Donnell and Patti Murin will share the screen again in a new Hallmark romance premiering in January.
Fans of Chicago Med will be over the moon to hear that alums, and real-life couple, Patti Murin and Colin Donnell are starring in a new Hallmark movie together—and it’s premiering sooner than you think!
Hallmark Channel has announced that Colin and Patti are two of the cast members in the movie Love on Iceland, which premieres Jan. 25 as part of the channel’s “Winterfest” programming block.
Unfortunately for One Chicago fans, they’re not the central couple of the movie.
That’s because Kaitlin Doubleday (Nashville, Empire) is starring in Love on Iceland as Chloe, and the official description of the movie reads as follows: “Searching for a fresh podcast idea for work, Chloe heads on a spontaneous trip to Iceland with her college friends.

“She doesn’t expect to run into her ex, Charlie, but what starts as begrudgingly spending more time together, results in new beginnings for them both.”
So the central romance will be between Chloe and Charlie, and we know that Patti Murin isn’t playing Chloe—dashing our hopes of Chicago Med‘s real-life couple getting the on-screen love affair we’d all fall in love with.
But that doesn’t mean it won’t still be a great movie. We’ll get to enjoy both Colin and Patti’s work, and any scenes they get together would be a vast improvement over their time in One Chicago, where fans pleaded for them to share screen time.
Colin starred for four seasons as Dr. Connor Rhodes, while Patti recurred as hospital pathologist Dr. Nina Shore.
But even though they were on the same show, they only ended up speaking to each other once—and that was in one of Connor’s final episodes, when Nina gave him the autopsy report on his father’s death, and her belief that it was suspicious (she was right).
So now fans are getting what they wanted, just on another network. It’ll be wonderful to see them working together more on this next project, and also for Colin to play a character who gets to be in a happier romance considering how terribly his Chicago Med arc ended.

Love on Iceland will be his first Hallmark movie, but Patti also had a supporting role in the recent Holiday for Heroes, opposite Melissa Claire Egan and Marc Blucas.
The duo are the latest Chicago Med actors to join the Hallmark Channel family. Torrey DeVitto just saw her second movie for the channel, Write Before Christmas, premiere last month.
