While One Chicago fans wait for Chicago Fire, Chicago PD and Chicago Med to return, now is the time to catch up with these related shows.

With Christmas over and the New Year still a few days away, One Chicago viewers have some extra time on their hands. Without any reruns of the Chicago shows on (which is a whole other story), what are you supposed to watch?

If you’ve only been watching Chicago Med, Chicago Fire and Chicago PD this season, you’ve missed out on a few good shows and probably not even known it. There are quite a few series out there with direct connections to the One Chicago universe—and now is the perfect time to binge-watch them while waiting for your favorite franchise to return.

Here’s what you should be tuned into now:

More from One Chicago Center

1) FBI

You’ve only got about a week and a half before FBI returns on Jan. 7, and you have to get caught up now because the Dick Wolf show returns on a cliffhanger just like all the One Chicago series.

But if you haven’t checked out Wolf’s CBS show this season, you’ve missed some good TV. While the first season was solid, the second season has become one of the best crime dramas available today, with a top-notch ensemble that has truly grown into their characters the second time around.

The cast is fantastic, including Law & Order alums Jeremy Sisto and Alana de la Garza, and former Law & Order: SVU guest stars Missy Peregrym and Ebonee Noel. And if you’ve been getting bored of the personal drama on Chicago PD, you won’t find any of that on FBI.

Catch up now on demand or via CBS All Access.

2) Murder For Hire

It may be a reality show, but the stories you’ll hear in Murder For Hire are crazier than almost any episode of Chicago PD. Produced by Dick Wolf, the Oxygen series documents cases where people tried to hire hitmen to kill someone—and were subsequently taken down by police.

Every episode has at least one WTF moment somewhere in it. There’s been a grandmother who tried to have her daughter-in-law killed, a custody battle that has gone incredibly wrong, and one installment involving a prison guard’s affair with a convict. It’s surprising that none of these have been adapted into episodes of any of the One Chicago shows yet, because they’re that good.

But a lot of people don’t even know this show exists due to the fact that it’s on Oxygen and airs in the middle of Sunday nights. Luckily, you can catch up on the entire season on their website.

3) Hunted

This one may be news to fans of One Chicago because it’s not a TV series—it’s an audio series. All eight episodes of Hunted are available now via Apple Podcasts or your other favorite platform, and it’s written and structured just like a crime drama; the only difference is that you listen to it rather than watch. Which makes it great to put on in the car, on a run, or just to pop some earbuds in and relax for a few hours.

Hunted is written by Law & Order: SVU alum Jeffrey Baker and stars Parker Posey (The Good Wife) as a U.S. Marshal tasked with tracking down several escaped fugitives. You’ll get sucked into it like you’re listening to a good One Chicago event. Start catching up now by reading our interview with Posey’s co-star Brandon Scott here.
