Chicago Med season 5, episode 11 preview: The Ground Shifts Beneath Us

What should fans look for in this week’s episode of Chicago Med? Get ready for “The Ground Shifts Beneath Us” with our Chicago Med season 5, episode 11 preview.

Tonight’s episode of Chicago Med will put the doctors and nurses to work as a plane crash sends multiple victims to their ER.

“The Ground Shifts Beneath Us” has some interesting plot lines for a few characters, including Dr. Will Halstead (Nick Gehlfuss), as well as the reappearance of a couple of people we haven’t seen in a while, like Gwen Garrett (Heather Headley).

NBC’s official episode description reads: “After a major accident at O’Hare, the E.D. is concerned one of their own is in mortal danger; Will’s proposal for a safe injection site goes to the board for consideration; Natalie and Goodwin become concerned for Gwen.”

Who is the person they suspect is a victim of the plane crash? Dr. Samuel Abrams (Brennan Brown)! As you saw in the promo, Maggie Lockwood (Marlyne Barrett) announces that there was an accident, and when Dr. Crockett Marcel (Dominic Rains) reveals that the patient is none other than Dr. Abrams, an incredulous reaction ensues from Dr. Daniel Charles (Oliver Platt).

If Med really does end Abrams’ storyline with an onscreen death, it would impact the inner workings of the hospital, as he was often called in for difficult cases. It’s also worth noting that it would be similar to what Chicago Fire did when they killed off Brian “Otis” Zvonecek (Yuri Sardarov) in the season 8 premiere.

While the majority of the doctors are operating and treating the victims, Dr. Natalie Manning (Torrey DeVitto) and Sharon Goodwin (S. Epatha Merkerson) have another person to worry about: Gwen. It’s unclear what exactly is going on with Garrett, but if it’s enough to warrant the concern of two of Chicago’s finest medical professionals, it must be big.

Even though Dr. Halstead will more than likely be tending to patients, he’s also up for review as his proposal for a new procedure is taken into consideration. If it does go through, it could be a great innovation in the medical field, but if it doesn’t – how would that impact Will? He hasn’t exactly had the easiest season personally or professionally, so he could really stand to have something go in his favor.

Guess we’ll have to wait and see how things turn out when “The Ground Shifts Beneath Us” returns tonight on NBC.
