Chicago Fire spoilers: Cruz and Chloe’s wedding date revealed!
Chicago Fire is definitely having a wedding. Find out which Chicago Fire season 8 episode will see Joe Cruz and Chloe headed for the altar. SPOILER ALERT!
Chicago Fire fans have been waiting all season for a wedding, but executive producer Derek Haas just revealed they won’t be waiting much longer.
SPOILER ALERT: This article contains major information about an upcoming Chicago Fire season 8 episode.
Joe Cruz (Joe Minoso) and his fiancee Chloe (recurring guest star Kristen Gutoskie) will tie the knot in Chicago Fire season 8, episode 19, the showrunner told TVLine this week.
That’s four episodes from now, as this Wednesday’s episode is the 16th episode. And it means the wedding is currently scheduled to air on April 1, 2020.

The spoiler is both good news for fans, and very interesting from a production perspective.
As far as fans are concerned, it means that they won’t have to wait until the season finale to see Cruz’s wedding. Unlike many other TV shows, Chicago Fire isn’t dangling a significant event in front of its viewers and then making them wait until literally the last episode to actually see it.

Production-wise, though, that means the wedding will miss the May sweeps period, where series normally have some of their biggest episodes because the competition between them is incredibly fierce.
That makes it a curious choice, because why not save a big happening for May? Does that imply that Chicago Fire has something even bigger and more important happening, so they don’t need to use the wedding for sweeps? Or maybe, just maybe, the wedding won’t be a huge deal so we don’t need a huge episode for it?
Who are we kidding—this is Chicago Fire. Derek Haas and his writing staff will find some way to make Joe Cruz’s wedding more complicated. Whether it’s a funny story like Cruz continuing to be neurotic, or a serious one like Chloe getting into another life-threatening accident, something will go wrong. We just don’t know what.
So with the big day taking place in April, that means we’ll have two months of the season to see Cruz and Chloe in married bliss, presuming that Godzilla doesn’t stomp on their wedding. And then let the speculation begin about what even bigger story Chicago Fire season 8 has waiting in the wings for May.
Haas also dropped a fun tidbit about the nuptials, adding that the episode “blew our budget” on cast in order to get a number of familiar faces to attend Cruz’s wedding. So start guessing about the guest list now. Will Monica Raymund make a cameo? Or Charlie Barnett? Or how about Cruz having a moment with the ghost of his BFF, Otis?
