Where are Chicago Med’s relationships headed? Producers tell what’s next
Chicago Med producers Diane Frolov and Andrew Schneider reveal what’s next for April and Choi, Will and Hannah, and Natalie and Crockett.
Did Chicago Med just break up April and Choi? Is there a new couple alert? Tonight’s episode has several major relationship developments, according to executive producers Andrew Schneider and Diane Frolov, who gave us some big details about what’s coming up during “In the Name of Love.”
Everyone wants to know what’s next for Chexton after April Sexton (Yaya DaCosta) showed up at the big wedding without her fiance. But if you thought April got off relatively easy after confessing that she kissed Dr. Crockett Marcel (Dominic Rains), this episode will change your mind.
“Although Ethan will continue to have tension with Crockett,” Andrew and Diane told us, “he comes to believe that their are deeper problems in his relationship with April that he can’t blame on Crockett.”

As for Dr. Marcel, tonight’s Chicago Med is another episode that sees him working with Dr. Natalie Manning (Torrey DeVitto). And though Natalie was last seen snapping at Crockett for kissing April, that’s not going to last long.
Tonight’s episode will see the sometimes-bickering duo start to grow closer. So how much truth is there to the rumors of a Crockett and Natalie romance?

“Natalie will learn that certain assumptions she made about Crockett were wrong,” Diane and Andrew explained, “and this will lead to the start of a new and closer relationship between the two of them.”
They also told us why they’ve decided to spend more time on that particular pairing: “We like seeing the combination of Natalie and Crockett because although they’re people with very different personalities, they have a great chemistry together.”
Which leaves Natalie’s former fiance Dr. Will Halstead (Nick Gehlfuss). Chicago Med season 5 has so far nixed the idea of another Manstead reconciliation, instead shipping Will with Dr. Hannah Asher (recurring guest star Jessy Schram). And yes, Will and Hannah are going to seriously date now that her drug addiction is behind them.
But that doesn’t mean that either one of them is going to forget just how they got together in the first place.
“The relationship between Will and Hannah will progress, but her former addiction together with the fear of relapse will be a source of tension as they go forward,” the showrunners revealed. “And they will need to learn who they are beyond the issue of her substance abuse.”
