One Chicago season finales airing April 15 due to coronavirus
One Chicago season finales will air a month early as Chicago Fire, Chicago PD and Chicago Med will wrap their runs on April 15 because of coronavirus.
In a move that’s been expected for several weeks, NBC announced on Thursday that it will cut the One Chicago season short by roughly a month due to the coronavirus pandemic. The One Chicago season finales are now just two weeks away, instead of during mid-May.
With TV shows everywhere unable to resume production for the foreseeable future, the network is following other channels in just ending the season with the last episodes that had been filmed before the shutdown—which are the 20th episodes of each cycle.
Here’s what the changes to the One Chicago season finales mean for fans.

When are the One Chicago season finales?
All three season finale episodes will air in two weeks, on Wednesday, April 15. There are still new episodes scheduled to air this Wednesday before the new finale dates.
These will not be the intended season finales. These are the last episodes to be filmed, which are now being used as the finales because there are no more episodes available after them.
Chicago Fire season finale
The Chicago Fire season finale will air April 15 in its normal 9:00 p.m. time slot. In “51’s Original Bell,” one of the firefighters is injured on a call and Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney) is determined to help them in any way possible.
Meanwhile, Emily Foster (Annie Ilonzeh) has her hands full; NBC says that she “contemplates a big decision.” Considering she’s already contemplated leaving Firehouse 51 once, it couldn’t be that again, could it? Or might Foster move out of the apartment considering that Joe Cruz (Joe Minoso) is about to be married and Sylvie Brett (Kara Killmer) has her own stuff to deal with?

Chicago PD season finale
During the Chicago PD season finale, Kevin Atwater (LaRoyce Hawkins) will come face to face with the police officer who pulled him over during the powerful episode “Night in Chicago.” The April 15 installment, airing at 10:00 p.m. as usual, is called “Silence of the Night” and sees Atwater undercover again, this time to stop a gun trafficking operation. But he runs into a familiar face, and spoilers earlier this season revealed who it’s going to be.
There is no information in NBC’s official synopsis about any of the other Chicago PD characters, though, so what will happen to them remains a mystery for now.
Chicago Med season finale
Last but not least, Chicago Med will be the first of the One Chicago season finales to air at 8:00 p.m. on April 15. It’s ominously titled “A Needle to the Heart” and finally looks like it will shine some light on Dr. Crockett Marcel (Dominic Rains). Two detectives from Crockett’s hometown of New Orleans show up at the hospital with questions for him about his history. They’re not the only ones, considering fans have wanted to know more of his backstory all season!
Elsewhere, there could be another instance of tragedy bringing a broken relationship back together, because Dr. Ethan Choi (Brian Tee) will be in a life-threatening situation. NBC has revealed that he “puts his life in danger to save a child.” Could almost losing Choi—again, this isn’t the first time—lead to an emotional moment or moment of reconciliation in his relationship with April Sexton (Yaya DaCosta), which is still very much on the rocks?
