One Chicago reruns are disappearing from NBC’s schedule.

One Chicago’s extra time on NBC‘s summer schedule is coming to an end—so what does that mean for fans of the franchise? Where do they go if they still want to watch episodes now?

Last Wednesday appears to be the last time Chicago Med and Chicago Fire will air repeats on NBC; the duo are being preempted this week for summer mainstays America’s Got Talent and World of Dance, respectively.

And it doesn’t look temporary—there aren’t any future listings for either show in the rest of August, at least on NBC’s current primetime schedule.

Chicago PD is better off, with episodes planned through mid-August, likely because it airs at 10 p.m. and NBC’s reality shows are always on earlier. But beyond that, there’s nothing confirmed for that series, either.

What’s happening, and what can One Chicago fans do to fill the upcoming void?

There are two factors in play here: one is that NBC has original programming like World of Dance and America’s Got Talent, and it makes no sense for them to devote time slots to repeats—even of their most popular shows—when they have new programs they can air instead. Reruns just don’t draw the same audience that originals do.

The other is that, quite frankly, they’re running out of said repeats. Reruns of One Chicago have been on the air since the most recent season ended in mid-April, and with only 20 episodes in said season, they were going to run out eventually. That “eventually” is almost now.

There are five Chicago Fire season 8 episodes that haven’t come around a second time (episodes 4, 12, 17-18, and 20).

Chicago Med is down to the same number from season 5 (episodes 2, 4, 8, 12 and 20). And then there’s Chicago PD, which has five left as well (episodes 2, 4, 9, 11 and 20) but that’s only because next week, it’s going to repeat episode 13 again.

That’s not a lot to choose from, and even less when you take the season finales out to allow for the chance that NBC decides to air the previous season’s finale as a refresher before new episodes start up again.

That normally wouldn’t sound like a big deal, since this is August and the new season usually begins in September. Except there is currently no confirmation that One Chicago is returning in September 2020. The only official word NBC has given is “fall 2020” without any specific date for the season premieres.

There could still be a significant gap ahead with no episodes whatsoever.

While the schedule change makes sense, it’s also going to leave fans out in the cold. While Peacock was touted as a home for the whole One Chicago franchise, it only offers the current seasons of all three shows—and unless you’re on a paid plan, you can only see Chicago PD, which is the one show that’s being syndicated to other channels anyway.

So if you want to watch either Chicago Med or Chicago Fire, you’re going to be out of luck for a few weeks or potentially months, unless you want to pay for them on streaming services like iTunes or Amazon Video. You can also purchase the DVDs, which will hit shelves (and online stores) later this month.
