Chicago PD season 7 is now available on DVD.

The seventh season of Chicago PD has finally been made available on DVD through Universal Pictures Home Entertainment (the home video arm of NBCUniversal). Arriving a few weeks after the other two One Chicago series, PD is now available to complete your collection.

Season 7 ran from September 2019 to April 2020 before being brought to a close early due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. This DVD set includes all 20 episodes that aired on NBC during that shortened time period.

You can get your copy of this DVD set on Amazon where it currently retails for $24.96. If you didn’t see our reviews of the previous One Chicago DVD releases, you can catch up here.

What are the Chicago PD season 7 DVD details?

Season 7 is packaged in a six-disc set that contains all 20 episodes. Those include the introduction of Vanessa Rojas (Lisseth Chavez), who joins the show in the season’s second episode. Rojas’ character fills the vacancy left by the departure of Antonio Dawson.

Note that this season does not include a final episode for Jon Seda; unlike Chicago Med, Chicago PD didn’t bring Seda back to wrap up Antonio’s story. The season premiere addresses where Antonio is but he’s never seen on screen.

The set comes with Dolby Digital 5.1 sound and widescreen 1:78:1 video; it’s similar to what you’ve seen if you’ve been watching episodes on your local high-definition NBC channel.

Closed captions are available for the hard of hearing but there is little foreign language support on this season. All that’s available are French subtitles. That’s the same as the Fire and Med releases for this year.

Is Chicago PD season 7 on Blu-Ray?

No. There are no plans for a Chicago PD season 7 Blu-Ray release, so if you want a physical copy of this season, you’ll have to settle for DVD.

This has nothing to do with the show itself; UPHE hasn’t released any of the One Chicago series on Blu-Ray at any point. In fact, many TV shows don’t get Blu-Ray editions because of how much it costs to put series out in that format. Unless they sell a ton of copies it doesn’t make sense for the studio to do both DVD and BD.

Are there any Chicago PD season 7 DVD special features?

Not unique to this release. There are no deleted scenes, bloopers, commentaries or behind the scenes extras included. Again, this is typical for Universal which has never put a ton of bonuses on these sets to begin with.

What is available are the episodes that make up each of the two One Chicago crossovers this season (so the Med and Fire episodes from “Infection” and the Fire episode that made up the spring two-show crossover). That’s a nice bonus if you don’t watch all three shows, since you don’t have to buy all three sets to watch the crossovers.
