NBC passes on Night School pilot starring the Chicago PD alum.

Chicago PD veteran Josh Segarra will not be going to Night School for NBC after all.

Segarra, who recurred on Chicago PD as Justin Voight, had the lead role in the Night School pilot based on the Kevin Hart film of the same name. Segarra was playing Hart’s character, who ends up bonding with a group of misfits when he goes to a GED prep class.

However, Variety broke the news that NBC has passed on the series.

That continues a string of bad news for One Chicago alums this pilot season. Jon Seda, who starred as Antonio Dawson on PD for six seasons, was cast as a series regular in the adventure pilot La Brea.

However, Seda and most of the cast were dropped from the project a few months later with their roles to be recast.

Sophia Bush‘s pilot Good Sam and Charlie Barnett’s pilot Ordinary Joe remain in limbo at CBS and NBC respectively.

The news isn’t all bad for Josh Segarra, though. He’s already moved on to his next role—playing FBI agent Nestor Vertiz, the love interest of Maggie Bell (Missy Peregrym) on the CBS drama FBI. He’s already recurred in multiple episodes this season.

That brings him tangentially back into the Chicago franchise orbit, as that show is also produced by Dick Wolf.

Meanwhile, Segarra’s previous comedy series The Moodys will start streaming for free on Tubi later in December. The FOX show featured Denis Leary as the patriarch of a bickering family that gets together for Christmas, with Segarra playing one character’s love interest.
