Chicago PD’s Jon Seda is no longer part of the NBC pilot La Brea.

Just days after NBC went forward with La Brea, Jon Seda has been let go from the project.

The former Chicago PD star is one of several actors whom the network released from their contracts on Friday, according to a report from Deadline. The majority of the cast was let go, with only Natalie Zea and Zyra Gorecki being kept on.

The departures were a result of NBC delaying the pilot until 2021 because of the coronavirus pandemic. Actors’ contracts for pilots only last a certain amount of time, and the La Brea cast’s contracts were due to expire on Tuesday, June 30.

More from Jon Seda

Rather than extend them to cover the new shooting schedule and have to continue paying them until next year, the network opted to release the actors.

Should they be available by the time La Brea starts shooting—which hasn’t been nailed down—they could be invited back to play the parts they were originally hired for.

But that’s not guaranteed. It’s also possible that the producers decide to recast with other actors, and Jon Seda is under no obligation to return to La Brea even if he is asked.

This is disappointing news for One Chicago fans, who were no doubt looking forward to watching Seda on a weekly basis again after his unexpected exit from Chicago PD.

His character Antonio Dawson was dropped from the series after season 6 and didn’t get an on-screen goodbye, though he was mentioned as having gone to Puerto Rico—and don’t hold out hope for him to return any time soon, as Rick Eid has said the show has moved on from Antonio.

Without Jon Seda’s involvement, La Brea’s only One Chicago connection is a spurious one. Zyra Gorecki’s only other TV credit is playing the small role of “Stuck Pedestrian” during Chicago Fire‘s 100th episode.
