Could someone be shown the door in tonight’s Chicago Med episode?

“Stories, Secrets, Half-Truths and Lies” has multiple characters with their employment possibly on the line, and with just two installments left in season 6, it might be that the writers wrap up one of those plots now rather than trying to do everything in next week’s finale.

There’s Dr. Natalie Manning (Torrey DeVitto), who stole medication earlier this season and is now covering up her theft with help from former fiance Dr. Will Halstead (Nick Gehlfuss).

There’s also Dr. Dean Archer (recurring guest star Steven Weber), who crossed a major line with a patient in last week’s episode and hasn’t submitted to his mandated therapy either.

And while this isn’t a negative, April Sexton (Yaya DaCosta) has been looking at advancing beyond being an Emergency Department nurse.

The key fact here, of course, is that DeVitto and DaCosta have already announced that this will be their last season on Chicago Med. That means Natalie and April will be saying goodbye either in this episode or next Wednesday’s episode.

It just depends on if the writing staff wants to do those goodbyes separately so that they stand on their own, or if they’ll hold both for the finale. Med has had two characters leave at the same time before, but those characters—Dr. Connor Rhodes and Dr. Ava Bekker—were in the same plotline; this is two separate stories to resolve.

Even if both of them stick around, expect things to happen here with both April and Natalie that will push them toward their exits. As for Archer, since Steven Weber’s arc has always been finite, he can get fired easily (and he should be based on what fans know about him now).

Something major is going to happen tonight; we just don’t know how much. But this will be an episode to talk about afterward, for sure, and that’s what every TV series wants ahead of the end of a season.
