Chicago PD: Tracy Spiridakos drops first look at Upstead in Chicago PD season 9

Production on Chicago PD season 9 is underway and thanks to Tracy Spiridakos we’ve been given our first look at Upstead back together and ready to tackle whatever the new season throws at them.

As fans will recall, when we last left Upton and Halstead in the final moments of season 8, a shaken Upton — having just returned from taking a suspect’s life to protect a rogue Voight — returned home where she proposed the idea of getting married to Halstead. While we’ll have to wait to see how exactly Halstead reacts to Upton’s spur of the moment proposal, it seems the pair will be back at it and ready to go as season 9 begins.

With filming underway on the show’s upcoming season, Spiridakos celebrated the start of filming with a fun behind-the-scenes selfie with her frequent screen partner Jesse Lee Soffer taken in what appears to be his character’s truck.

“Annnnnnd we’re back!” Spiridakos captioned the photo of herself and Soffer, who are all smiles in gearing up for the start of the new season.

While the photo doesn’t tell us anything about the status of Upstead’s relationship with no engagement rings or wedding bands in sight, it’s definitely a welcome treat for Upstead fans anxious to see their favorite duo back in action and together on-screen.

Will Upton and Halstead get married in Chicago PD season 9?

Of course, as we look ahead to the new season, the biggest question on the minds of fans is whether Halstead will agree to Upton’s proposal of getting married or if he’ll put the brakes on the idea by looking to not rush into things.

Although NBC has not released any spoilers, it seems unlikely Upton and Halstead will get married in season 9 of Chicago PD, well at least not in the early part of the season.

While Halstead is not yet privy to the events that unfolded the night the team raced to save Burgess, we’re pretty sure he knows Upton well enough to recognize that she wasn’t in the best of mindsets and was visibly shaken when popping the question. As such, we expect that he’ll suggest not rushing into something and take some to ponder the idea.

Knowing Halstead, it’s also possible that he’ll look to formally pop the question in a more romantic and traditional way eventually which could still open the door for an Upstead wedding in season 9.
