3. Cornelius Rhodes, Chicago Med
Was there ever anything redeeming about Dr. Connor Rhodes’ (Colin Donnell) father? Cornelius (played by D.W. Moffett) was such a tyrant that Connor went to another country for medical school in order to get away from him, and everything we saw of him on Chicago Med proved that he lived up to that infuriating reputation.
Cornelius was opposed to paying for an employee’s medical bills, even though the man had been injured on the job and was engaged to Connor’s sister (Christina Brucato). When Connor dated Dr. Robin Charles (Mekia Cox) and Robin got into trouble at the department store, Cornelius made snide comments about her.
He also creepily hit on Dr. Ava Bekker (Norma Kuhling) while aware that she was Connor’s colleague and that his son had an interest in her—although eventually, that became an Ava problem because she had sex with him for money when the show revealed her to be a sociopath in season 4.
Even so, Cornelius was the kind of character who made the show worse when he appeared. He did nothing but bring pain to one of Chicago Med‘s most beloved heroes and as such watching scenes with him were nothing but annoying for One Chicago viewers. The show did eventually kill him off by Ava’s hand, and Connor was the only one actually upset.
