If there is one thing Chicago Fire fans have come to expect over the years, it’s that you never know when a beloved character might unexpectedly leave the series.

Over the course of the show’s first nine seasons, we’ve said goodbye to countless characters some of which have left town or simply moved on to another firehouse, and others whose exits were a bit more permanent in nature.

While some departures were to be expected and were foreshadowed in the time leading up to the character’s exit, the majority of the show’s biggest exits were ones no fans saw coming with many unfolding within the opening hour of a new season. As such, it’s understandable that whenever a season ends with a major cliffhanger in which certain characters’ lives hang in the balance, fans can’t help but to question whether yet another cast exit is looming.

Chicago Fire will return for a new season on Sept. 22, 2021, but will everyone from the cast be returning or should we be preparing to bid farewell to a few beloved facts?

When looking ahead to Chicago Fire season 10, the good news is that Jesse Spencer, Kara Killmer, David Eigenberg, Christian Stolte, Miranda Rae Mayo, Eamonn Walker, Alberto Rosende, Daniel Kyri, and Hanako Greensmith are all expected to be back this season.

Also expected to return for season 10 are Taylor Kinney, Joe Minoso, Randy Flagler and Anthony Ferraris. While the quartet’s characters were left in a precarious situation at the end of the season, all signs seem to point towards Squad making it out okay and we haven’t heard of any cast departures among the group.

While most of the key cast will be returning this season, there are a few faces who won’t be returning to the Windy City this fall.

Adriyan Rae has officially stepped away from the series and will not be returning this season as Gianna Mackey, though you can catch her in new episodes of Paramount Plus’ The Game revival beginning this November!

Also not expected to return in season 10 is Jon Ecker, who completed his guest arc as Lieutenant Greg Grainger in season 9. While the creative team isn’t ready to rule out his return, at this time there are no plans for Ecker to appear in season 10 at this time.
