Chicago Med images suggest Torrey DeVitto won’t return for season 7 premiere
By Cody Schultz
Newly released images for Chicago Med season 7 seem to suggest Torrey DeVitto won’t be returning for a final sendoff as Dr. Natalie Manning in the season 7 premiere after all.
Just before the season 6 finale aired, news broke that DeVitto — in addition to fellow original cast member Yaya DaCosta — would be departing the series and had decided not to extend her contract to return for season 7. While shocking at the time, DeVitto’s exit was later alluded to in the season 6 finale when her character’s future was left up in the air after she went to Goodwin (S. Epatha Merkerson) to confess the truth about stealing the trial drugs for her mother.
Although the moment seemed to hint at being designed as an exit story for DeVitto, it also left a lot of unknowns about her future which left fans with hope that she might return in the season 7 premiere to tie up loose ends.
This is something we’ve seen happen several times before within the One Chicago franchise, including on Chicago Med, take for example how Colin Donnell and Norma Kuhling returned for the season 5 premiere before their perspective exits.
While it’s possible NBC could surprise us, it’s, unfortunately, looking unlikely that DeVitto will be returning for a final sendoff in the season 7 premiere. Her character has already been removed from the newest promotional poster for the season, and there is no sign of DeVitto in any of the newly released images from the season premiere.
This all seems to suggest that DeVitto will not be returning and that we’ve officially seen the last of Natalie Manning, at least for the time being.
Why did Torrey DeVitto leave Chicago Med?
It’s unknown exactly why Torrey DeVitto chose to walk away from her role on Chicago Med, but it seems her decision was made in part due to a desire to pursue new career opportunities.

When confirming her departure via Instagram, DeVitto hinted that “new adventures” awaited her telling fans she couldn’t “wait to share what’s to come.” Shortly after, it was revealed she had wrapped filming on the new film Skelly and just this month news broke she would be starring as a lead in a new Hallmark Christmas film.
