Chicago Med has had no shortage of newcomers in season 7. We’ve already been introduced to Dr. Dylan Scott (Guy Lockard) and Dr. Pamela Blake (Sarah Rafferty), but another character we got to meet is Avery Quinn.

Quinn had a pivotal role in the recent episode “Change Is a Tough Pill to Swallow”. She was a patient who was suffering from liver problems and unwittingly sparked debate among Dr. Blake and Crockett (Dominic Rains) as to the best plan of action.

Since Quinn has been a recurring character in the last couple episodes, there’s been speculation as to who plays her and why she looks so familiar to audiences. Here’s a rundown on Quinn and her screen alias.

What character does Johanna Braddy play on Chicago Med?

Avery Quinn is played by actress Johanna Braddy. She’s been a familiar face on television and film since making her screen debut in the 2004 TV movie Pop Rocks. She’s since gone on to appear in shows like Drake & Josh, Lie to Me, and CSI: Miami. Braddy also had a recurring role in the comedy series Greek, and voiced the character of Princess Yue on Avatar: The Last Airbender.

Braddy has also found success on the big screen. The actress has appeared in several massive horror franchises, with starring roles in The Grudge 3 (2009) and Paranormal Activity 3 (2011). She’s most recently appeared in the romantic drama Saving Paradise (2021).

It’s unclear how long Braddy’s character will remain on Chicago Med. It’s safe to assume she’s part of the showrunners’ plan to keep things feeling fresh and exciting on the set. During an interview with TV Brittany F, showrunner Andrew Schneider explained that the implementation of new cast members are vital to the show’s continued success.

"“The cornerstone of our show is how the medical cases affect the personal lives of our doctors and nurses”, he shared. “So with new characters and new inter-personal dynamics, we hope the show will continue to be fresh and surprising.”"

We’re excited to see how Quinn fits into the growing narrative of the season, especially as Blake and Crockett continue to bump heads over treatment methods.
