When is the next new episode of Chicago Med?

Season 7 of Chicago Med kicked off on quite a strong note airing eight consecutive episodes without interruption which had been a welcomed change of pace from the randomness of last year’s schedule.

That all changed on Nov. 17, when the One Chicago shows headed on an unexpected break with reruns airing that evening instead of new episodes. The following week, Med fans were treated to yet another rerun before NBC turned the night over to holiday programming in what has been week 2 of an extended break.

With two weeks of back-to-back reruns, fans are starting to, understandably, question how long this break is going to be and when Med will finally return for a new episode. Given the holiday season is upon us, has Med already aired its final episode of the year or can fans look forward to at least one more episode before 2021 ends?

When does Chicago Med return?

Chicago Med finally returns from break on Wednesday, Dec. 8 with the ninth episode of season 7 which just so happens to be the show’s fall finale.

While it’s unclear whether the episode will be a holiday episode like Chicago Fire, the episode’s title “Secret Santa has a Gift For You” sure seems to suggest Med might be playing up the holiday season vibes… even if the episode synopsis doesn’t tease any holiday storylines.

In the episode, Will (Nick Gehlfuss) teams up with Dylan (Guy Lockard) to help treat a young patient but will find his investigation into Matt (Michael Rady) weighing heavily on his mind. Elsewhere, two doctors will struggle with keeping secrets while Crockett (Dominic Rains) teams up with Pamela (Sarah Rafferty) and Abrams (Brennan Brown) for a liver transplant surgery.
