Chicago Fire has had seen a ton of cast turnover in season 10. Whether it be the shocking exit of Matt Casey (Jesse Spencer) or the brief tenure of his replacement, Jason Pelham (Brett Dalton), the show has done a great job of keeping fans off balance.

Because of this precedent for unpredictability, we decided to survey the last batch of episodes, as well as the upcoming ones, and determine which characters are going to be added to the 51 and which are going to leave.

Here’s what you need to know about the Chicago Fire 2022 cast.

Is someone leaving Chicago Fire?

First of all, there are plenty of newcomers. Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo) recently hired Mason (Chris Mansa) as a firefighter, after a rigorous process that saw her audition several young candidates. Mason made a brief albeit memorable appearance in season 9, so it’ll be interesting to see him in larger doses and get a gage on what he brings to the table.

There’s also the casting of Caitlin Carver, which was announced several weeks. Few details have been released about the role the actress is going to play, besides the fact that she’s going to be a part of the paramedic team.

These newcomers will inject new blood into the 51, while also serving to highlight the ways that the main cast are ceding ground to the younger generation. People like Kidd and Severide (Taylor Kinney) used to be the hotshots, but now they’re the ones running the show.

Of course, arrivals means departures. Casey’s exit was a huge blow to Chicago Fire, and the show still makes reference to his character on a regular basis. Nowhere is this more apparent than in the episode “The Missing Piece”, where Brett (Kara Killmer) breaks down and admits to feeling sad due to Casey’s move.

Brett went on to reveal that she’s been considering taking time off work to visit Casey in Portland. Based on the handling of other One Chicago characters, like Dr. Ethan Choi (Brian Tee) on Med or Kidd earlier in the season, the showrunners will most likely write her out of several episodes.

There has been no mention of Brett leaving the show for good, or her leaving Chicago to be with Casey in the long term. When taken in consideration with the fact that showrunner Derek Haas has teased Casey’s return, its safe to assume that Brett’s sojourn from Fire will be brief.
