Chicago Med season 8: Will Mekia Cox return as Robin Charles?

Dr. Robin Charles was a beloved character during her brief time on Chicago Med. She exuded poise and got along famously with the rest of the ED unit. Her departure was unexpected and tragic, but showrunners maintained that the door was open for the character should they ever decide to bring her back.

The question, of course, is whether they’re going to bring Charles and her actress, Mekia Cox back anytime soon. Her departure is fresh in the minds of many, but there have been rumors that she could mount a return, whether in a cameo or a full-time capacity.

Here’s what we know about Mekia Cox and the odds of her returning to Chicago Med.

Will Robin Charles return to Chicago Med?

Dr. Robin Charles was last seen in season 5. She bowed out after her mother’s farewell party (due to a lymphoma diagnosis) and left Chicago for good. Not much was divulged about her career or what she plans to do outside of the ED, but her relationship with her father, Dr. Daniel Charles (Oliver Platt), was noticeably improved. From a character standpoint, her familial ties make her eventual return to the show very possible.

That being said, fans shouldn’t expect to see Cox make the return during season 8. The actress has been very busy as of late, as she was recently promoted to regular on the crime series The Rookie. The chances of her choosing to return as Dr. Robin Charles after booking a central role on a strong show are slim.

Cox is set to return as a series regular in the upcoming fifth season of The Rookie, which would make it difficult for her to return to Chicago Med. When you factor in that The Rookie films in Los Angeles, it’s highly likely we’ll see Cox return to the Windy City this season.
