General Hospital star joins Chicago PD in mystery role

When Chicago PD returns for its tenth season this fall, there is going to be a lot of change coming to NBC’s long-running procedural.

Of course, the biggest change coming this fall is the looming departure of long-time series regular Jesse Lee Soffer who will be exiting the series after 10 seasons as Det. Jay Halstead. It’s impossible to think of Chicago PD without Halstead but it seems the writers are putting the pieces in place to start to fill the void that will be caused by his exit.

First, the show  promoted Benjamin Levy Aguilar to series regular following his guest stint in season 9 as patrol officer Dante Torres. Now, it seems they’ve tapped a fan-favorite actor from ABC’s General Hospital to play a mysterious new role on the series.

General Hospital star Michael Blake Kruse joins Chicago PD

While the details surrounding his casting remain unclear, General Hospital star Michael Blake Kruse has joined the cast of Chicago PD in a yet-to-be-revealed new role. The GH star broke the news via Instagram, where he shared his excitement about heading to Chicago for filming.

"It’s great to be working in the Midwest again with the incredible cast and crew of Chicago PD. So much to love about this city and show. Season 10 premieres on Sept 21."

The post was accompanied by a series of photos including one from behind-the-scenes on the set of the Intelligence Unit’s HQ, hinting that he might be suiting up as a member of the Chicago Police Department.

We haven’t yet seen his character pop up in any footage or photos from the new season, so it should be interesting to see who exactly Kruse will be playing and how big his role might end up being.
