LaRoyce Hawkins height: How tall is the Chicago PD actor?

Kevin Atwater is a thoughtful and attentive police officer on Chicago PD. He’s always been an anchor for the rest of the team, even when other characters have strayed from the book and broken the rules. He was the one who ultimately saved the day in the season 10 finale, when he took out the leader of a domestic terrorist group.

That being said, Atwater is the most physically imposing member of the PD team. He towers over the rest of the characters, leading to constant speculation regarding the height of Atwater’s actor, LaRoyce Hawkins.

Here’s a breakdown of Hawkins’ height in relation to the rest of the cast, and whether he played sports prior to becoming a star.

LaRoyce Hawkins is 6’3″, making him the tallest member of the Chicago PD cast. By comparison, Jason Beghe is 5’10” and Patrick Flueger is 6’0″. Conversely, the shortest member of the cast is Tracy Spiridakos, who stands at 5’6″.

Hawkins played basketball while attending Thornton High School. His height made him a standout position player, but he ultimately decided to quit the sport and join the speech team during his sophomore year. The decision proved worthwhile, as Hawkins became a two-time state champion and the winner of the Illinois High School Association’s Original Comedy event in 2005.

Hawkins attended Illinois State University on a full ride scholarship. His height could lead some fans to assume that he received an athletic scholarship, but he actually majored in theatre arts. He appeared in several stage plays before making his screen debut in the sports drama The Express: The Ernie Davis Story (2008). He graduated from ISU in 2012.

The character actor still makes fitness a huge part of his daily routine. He spoke at an Anytime Fitness opening in 2018, where he discussed the importance of working out in relation to mental health. Here’s what Hawkins had to tell the crowd:

"“Make your workouts intentional. Think about more than you. Think about the people who you can affect by the example, when they see your mind change your body. Your mind will change your body if you give it that intention.”"
