It's almost time for the returns of the One Chicago shows on NBC, and like all fans, we are counting down the days. Between the three shows, we have a long list of questions we need answered from the previous season finale, but none of the shows left behind as many questions as Chicago Fire. For starters, we have been left wondering all summer who might not survive the cliffhanger.
In the Chicago Fire season 14 finale, the team responded to a call at a warehouse, and the proceeding fire they walked into turned out to be a lot more dangerous than they had anticipated. The resulting explosion left half of the team trapped inside the building and the other half scrambling to safety from the roof. We recently learned who survives the fire, but any potential victims are still a mystery.
Ahead of the Oct. 7 premiere of Chicago Fire season 15, NBC released a new promo that gave fans a glimpse into the premiere episode. From confirming who's safe from the fire to meeting the new characters joining the team, the promo offered a great preview at the new season. But we also caught a sneak peek at a crossover moment that's guaranteed to tug on our heartstrings.
Within the Chicago Fire season 15 teaser that was shared on Peacock, there's a particular scene that shows Violet (Hanako Greensmith) and Novak (Jocelyn Hudon) accompanying a patient to Gaffney. It's not out of the ordinary for the pair to pop by Chicago Med for brief scenes as paramedics delivering patients to the emergency department doctors, but the stakes here are very high.
As the Chicago Med season 12 trailer hinted, the Gaffney team will be plenty busy with their own patients who aren't part of the Firehouse 51 squad, and they could possibly lose one of those patients. But the look at Violet and Novak's faces while leaving the patient with the Gaffney team seems to suggest that they are distraught and potentially leaving one of their own.
Based on the severity of the fire in the season 14 finale, it's pretty much a given that a least a few of the team members won't be making it out unscathed. Whether they live or die remains to be seen, but there's no doubt Violet and Novak will be heading to Gaffney with at least one, but maybe more, of their colleagues at Firehouse 51. The expressions they shared were too personal.
We know that Violet and Novak care for all of their patients, but this particular crossover moment between Fire and Med appears to be connected to the season 14 finale. The One Chicago shows are no stranger to having crossovers, case in point the multiple three-episode events that connect all three shows for a special evening. However, we don't expect the premieres to cross over like that.
From the brief footage we have seen in the promos so far, it's difficult to predict exactly who Violet and Novak could be bringing into Gaffney, even if we have a pretty good idea of who could be in actual danger. Is it Pascal being a hero? Is it Cruz having a close call before he departs the show? Is it another major or minor character suffering an injury? It's too soon to tell.
But it's not too soon to know that we're in for an emotional season premiere. We'll find out what this mini-crossover holds for us when Chicago Fire season 15 premieres on Wednesday, Oct. 7 at 9/8c on NBC.
