During most seasons of Chicago Med, there has been a fall finale which has put the show on pause for weeks leading up to the end of the calendar year. When the medical drama is paused like that, that leaves fans interested in other news revolving around the show. For example, there are interesting stories about the fact that Torrey DeVitto recently competed on Celebrity Weakest Link or about the interest in Steven Weber appearing on The Bear as a notable character.
While there is no doubt that those stories are fascinating, the show going on hiatus also gives fans a great chance to discuss the history of Chicago Med up until this point. Perhaps the most relevant topic to discuss during the show's current hiatus is how it has handled its two most recent fall finales. Unfortunately, I believe that the last two Chicago Med fall finales have started to make it feel like the annual event is becoming too predictable.

Why Chicago Med's next fall finale really needs to mix things up
During Chicago Med season 10, the fall finale episode featured the payoff to a storyline that involved Sharon Goodwin being stalked. After the episode largely focused on Ms. Goodwin being kidnapped, she was stabbed and seemingly left for dead. That meant that fans were supposed to be left to wonder if Ms Goodwin would survive when the show returned following the fall finale.
During Chicago Med season 11, the fall finale featured the payoff to a storyline that involved Dr. Caitlin Lenox becoming concerned about a former patient being abused by their partner. After the episode largely focused on Dr. Lenox worrying that her former patient was in peril, she went to her home and was struck be her violent partner. That meant that fans are currently supposed to be left to wonder if Dr. Lenox will survive when the show will return following the fall finale
The fact that the biggest storylines from the last two Chicago Med fall finales can be framed in such a similar way, despite the details being different, underlines an issue with repetitiveness.
Based on how these two fall finales have played out, I can only now predict that there is a good chance that season 12's fall finale is likely to end with one of the show's female main characters having suffered an attack that is supposed to leave fans wondering if they will survive. I certainly hope that won't be the case, however, since the pattern is already starting to make Chicago Med feel overly predictable.
