Chicago Med season 11 will come to a close with an intense final episode that promises to bring lots of heart-stopping drama.
As the finale opens, Gaffney will be in a lockdown after the Code Silver was called in the closing moments of the penultimate episode after a prisoner escaped custody and got his hands on a gun. With Gaffney in lockdown, we know that lives will be on the line, including Dean and Ripley, who both land in the crosshairs of the armed gunman, as well as Hannah, who has gone into labor while under lockdown. The promo also suggests that Frost’s father will pass away after being moved to hospice and that the Charles and Theo face-off will come to a head.
Needless to say, NBC managed to pack quite a lot into the brief promo, which gave fans a lot to think about. However, because of how fast-paced and busy the promo is, many fans missed a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moment that confirmed the return of a key recurring character for the season 11 finale: Kip Lenox.
Lenox's younger brother will be back for the final episode of the season, and the quick moment from the promo not only confirmed his return but also seems to hint that Lenox will finally be coming clean to him about her GSS (Gerstmann-Sträussler-Scheinker) test results.
Early in the promo, we see a brief shot of Kip angrily throwing a computer monitor to the floor as a shocked Lenox watches from behind him. There is no audio to accompany the scene, and the scene is literally only a second long, but there is only one thing that would make Kip angry enough to lash out in the way he does in this moment: him finding out the truth about his sister's diagnosis.
Fans will recall that when Kip and Lenox were tested for GSS in season 10, Lenox lied to her brother by telling him that she too tested negative when the reality was that she tested positive for the disease. It's a secret that Lenox has been keeping ever since, and she was doing a good job of hiding it until Ripley put the pieces together after meeting Kip.
Now that there is no more keeping this secret hidden, it seems that Lenox will finally tell Kip the truth in the season finale and that he understandably will not take it well. While Kip is going to first react in anger, we hope that he ultimately is able to see that Lenox was only keeping the truth from him to try to protect him. We also hope that Kip steps up for his sister to show her that she doesn't always have to be the strong one and that he's there for her to lean on as well.
Lenox has put up some major walls, but her relationship with Ripley has helped her break them down little by little. This is a journey we hope to see continue in season 12 as Lenox stops running from the diagnosis.
