We're officially back with new weekly episodes of Chicago Med following the exciting season 12 premiere episode that left us breathless and itching to see what happens next. There were so many questions we needed the first episode to answer, and we got those answers about Lenox's temporary absence, Asher and Archer's relationship status, and Goodwin's future at the hospital.

The Chicago Med season 12 premiere reunited us with our favorite doctors while also welcoming a handful of guest stars we've seen on the big and small screen before. The first episode's wedding shooting case-of-the-week allowed for stars from Your Honor, Wicked: For Good, and Beverly Hills, 90210 to join the cast, and in the second episode, we're getting plenty more familiar faces.

But one of those faces might not be Dr. Lenox this time around. While Sarah Ramos made an unexpected, surprise appearance in the premiere despite being confirmed to miss the first five episodes of Chicago Med season 12, Lenox's sabbatical and Ramos' maternity leave will likely keep her offscreen in episode 2. However, we're sharing who we will be seeing at Gaffney this week!

Chicago Med season 12 episode 2 guest stars

While the photos NBC shared from Chicago Med season 12 episode 2 doesn't give much away when it comes to guest stars, the Rotten Tomatoes listing for the episode, which is titled "Third Rails," teased who will be popping up. According to the site, Gbenga Akinnagbe will be making his return as Goodwin's son David, though ahead of the episode's airing, it's unclear what brings him back.

Perhaps she's calling David in for help with the ongoing discussions about the fate of her career, especially now that it's gotten even more complicated. In the final moments of the premiere episode, Doris admitted to Goodwin that she leaked Theo's medical records, which places Goodwin in hot water. Could David play a role in helping clear his mother's name and get her job back?

Additionally, the Rotten Tomatoes listing includes B.K. Cannon as a guest star for the character Ellen Montgomery. Cannon's included in a photo alongside Ripley, who's looking into her throat with a flashlight. Cannon previously guest starred in Chicago Fire back in 2017 and has also appeared in such shows as Switched at Birth, The Politician, Sin City Saints, Bones, and Why Women Kill.

The new episode also has Orlagh Cassidy back as Miranda and Rebecca Breeds (who's the real-life wife of star Luke Mitchell) back as Mallory Sloan. With these two back, we're sure to get some movement on the Goodwin front. Curiously, An-Li Bogan isn't listed as returning as Gaffney's new doctor Annie Wu, but that doesn't mean she won't be back soon.

Sometimes, the photos that NBC shares from the latest episodes of the One Chicago series can point toward which main characters will be absent from the episode. Ripley, Asher, Archer, and Frost are all featured in photos from episode 12, as is Devin Kawaoka as Dr. Kai Tanaka-Reed, but Goodwin and Charles are not. It's possible that either of them could miss this episode.

Chicago Med airs Wednesdays at 8/7c on NBC and next-day on Peacock.
