We might not yet know when Anna Pigeon will premiere on USA Network, but we now know the window in which the new series led by Chicago PD alum Tracy Spiridakos will debut!
According to insider Matt Webb Mitovich, the first season of Anna Pigeon will debut as part of USA Network’s summer lineup. This seems to indicate the series will arrive between June and August, which is honestly a perfect window for the series. A summer release date for Anna Pigeon means the show will air during the One Chicago off-season, making it a perfect series for Chicago PD fans to turn to during the break to bridge the gap between new episodes of Chicago PD.
Anna Pigeon marks Spiridakos’s first series regular role since her exit from Chicago PD in the season 11 finale, bringing an end to her eight-season run playing Detective Hailey Upton. Spiridakos will star as the show’s title character, Anna Pigeon, a woman who is trying to flee her traumatic past by starting fresh as a park ranger.
After a devastating loss changed the trajectory of her life forever, Anna leaves city life behind in order to get a change of pace. Anna quickly goes from trying to outrun her own demons to chasing after criminals as she works to solve a series of crimes committed within national park grounds.
The series based on The New York Times best-selling series from author Nevada Barr promises to be must-see for Chicago PD fans. It seems only fitting that Spiridakos will be returning to the television landscape playing a crime fighter of a different sort, and Chicago PD fans are eager to see Spiridakos back on their screens. She’ll be surrounded by an amazing ensemble which includes Ronnie Rowe Jr., Manuel Rodriguez-Saenz, Cooper Levy, Ryan Northcott, Paulina Alexis, and Tricia Helfer.
It’s going to be nice getting to see her incredible talents on display once more. It’s even more exciting knowing that Spiridakos will be playing the title character and getting to lead the show’s cast as it’ll ensure she’ll be front and center throughout the show’s run!
Chicago PD hasn’t been the same since Spiridakos stepped away, and Upton's absence continues to be felt in the show. While the show has brought in some amazing characters to help fill the void since she exited in season 11, it just hasn't been the same without Upton.
Now that Spiridakos is set to lead her own series, the odds of seeing her back in the One Chicago universe is looking less likely, but we can hold out hope that perhaps the Anna Pigeon team will find a way to stage a One Chicago reunion. Who knows, maybe we'll get lucky and the show will find a way to bring Jesse Lee Soffer in for a guest spot giving Upstead shippers the chance to see Soffer and Spiridakos back on screen together!
