Even though the One Chicago franchise has gone on hiatus for the summer months, that gives fans the opportunity for fans to catch up on the stars' other projects. Between Chicago Fire actor Michael Bradway starring in the Prime Video series Every Year After and a former Chicago PD star headlining a new summer movie on Tubi, there's a lot for us to dive into and enjoy until fall.
Once upon a time, Sophia Bush starred in Chicago PD as Detective Erin Lindsay before leaving the police procedural after four seasons. Since leaving the show, the One Tree Hill alum has appeared in series like Good Sam, This Is Us, Love Victor, and Grey's Anatomy, but the actress will soon return to our screens in a new movie a fellow well-know star of screens both big and small.
On July 3, Tubi will release the new comedy movie Summer's Last Resort starring Sophia Bush, Jerry O'Connell, and Violet McGraw. The streaming service released the trailer for the upcoming movie on June 16 and the preview clip teases Bush in a role like we've never seen her before. She's playing a single mother and a romantic lead in the movie that's at least part rom-com.
Take a closer look at the full official trailer for Summer's Last Resort below!
Summer's Last Resort stars Violet McGraw as Summer, the teenage daughter of Milly (Sophia Bush) who suffers through a stressful tropical vacation with her mom's new boyfriend Glenn (Jerry O'Connell). Adding to the awkwardness of the situation, Glenn's also the vice principal of Summer's school. During the vacation, Summer decides breaking the two up is her absolute last resort.
Tim Rozon and Clara Alexandrova also star in the movie that was written by Emily Andras and directed by Clara Alexandrova. Rather than being available to watch in theaters or a major subscription-based streaming service, Summer's Last Resort will be available to watch on the free streamer Tubi on its designated release date on Friday, July 3. It's the perfect, summery movie to watch before the 4th.
This is far from Sophia Bush's first role since leaving Chicago PD in 2017. The star has kept plenty busy in leading, supporting, and guest roles in popular television shows, and she has also appeared in a number of movies, including Incredibles 2, Hard Luck Love Song, False Positive, Junction, and The Stranger in My Home.
On the small screen, Bush had been adapting a revival series of One Tree Hill to reprise her role as Brooke Davis, though the potential comeback on Netflix has seemingly stalled while in development. Bush will next recur in the Hulu limited series Count My Lies alongside Lindsay Lohan, Shailene Woodley, and Kit Harington and release her debut memoir And I Will Tell You Mine this fall.
While waiting for her next television role and the Chicago PD secrets she's set to spill in her book, we can catch Sophia Bush in the hilarious new Tubi movie Summer's Last Resort on July 3.
