On March 20, ABC staged a fun crossover event between Thursday night dramas 911 and Doctor Odyssey which saw 911’s Angela Bassett teaming up with The Odyssey crew to stop a heist from unfolding. It was fun getting to see Bassett’s Athena mingling with the cast of Doctor Odyssey in a crossover that truly felt effortless in the way in which Athena’s presence was woven into the Casino Week theme.
It was a fun crossover between the two shows, but the 911 crossover magic didn’t stop with Doctor Odyssey!
In the eleventh episode of Grey’s Anatomy, “I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For,” ABC staged a seemingly unplanned 911 crossover… well with a twist.

Yes, that was 911’s Anirudh Pisharody in Grey’s Anatomy season 21, episode 11
Your eyes were not deceiving you, that was indeed 911’s Anirudh Pisharody in Grey’s Anatomy season 21, episode 11! The same night Pisharody made his return to 911 as Eddie’s replacement, making his first appearance on the show since its season 7 finale, Pisharody guest starred on Grey’s Anatomy making for a night of unexpected 911 crossover moments.
In the episode, Grey Sloan Memorial was thrust into chaos when an annual scavenger hunt sent college students racing through the halls of the hospital. Among the students participating in the scavenger hunt was a trio of friends who found themselves in over their heads when one of the group ran into the room where an MRI was in use sending him flying against the machine in need of surgery. In this trio was the charming Dev, played by Pisharody, who was participating in the scavenger hunt with his girlfriend and her best friend, who was harboring secret feelings for her.
It was a small guest role and the timing of Pisharody’s guest appearance was definitely an unexpected surprise and we loved getting to see him not only back in action on 911 but also guest starring on Grey’s Anatomy!
The timing of his guest spot was definitely a happy accident in creating a night of 911 crossover moments both official and unofficial. And we’re not too concerned about the moment preventing a proper crossover between 911 and Grey’s Anatomy from happening in the future! After all, we’ve seen many actors play dual roles on shows set in the same universe including within NBC’s Law & Order and One Chicago franchise.
