Fans tuning into Chicago Med season 11, episode 15 can look forward to a true comedy legend passing through the halls of Gaffney Chicago Medical Center!
We’re referring to comedian and actress Nicole Sullivan, who finds herself in a bit of a prickly situation when an acupuncture treatment goes wrong. We got a glimpse of Sullivan’s character in the promo for the episode, and fans were quick to recognize her in the brief snippet from the promo, which is more than expected as she’s a star that comedy fans will certainly recognize!
Sullivan has appeared in a number of hit comedies across her career and is perhaps best known for playing Holly Shumpert on the Kevin James-led classic The King of Queens. Of course, this is just one of Sullivan’s many comedy credits, which also include the role of Janine on ABC’s Black-ish, the title role in the beloved Lifetime comedy Rita Rocks, and an eleven-year run on the sketch comedy MADtv.
These are just a few of the titles you might recognize Sullivan from, but odds are you’ve seen her in many of your favorite series, as she has quite an extensive resume! Among the many hit shows Sullivan has starred in are Running Point, The Sex Lives of College Girls, Raven’s Home, Mom, Disjointed, Cougar Town, and Scrubs.
You might also recognize her for her many iconic voice acting roles, which include Family Guy, Clone High, HouseBroken, DC Super Hero Girls: Super Shorts, BoJack Horseman, The Penguins of Madagascar, and Kim Possible.
In addition to Sullivan, the episode features the returns of several key recurring guest characters who have popped up at various points throughout the season.
First we have the returns of Tetona Jackson and Zach Appelman as Esme and Jeremy Lockhart. The pair will return to Gaffney in the episode for the delivery of their child, which is a momentous moment, as there was a time when it looked like Jeremy might not get the chance to meet his child following his cancer diagnosis earlier this season.
Also back this episode if Merrin Dungey as Dr. Jennifer Kingston; her return aligning with the returns of Jeremy and Esme makes perfect sense. Kingston has been part of Jeremy’s treatment team since his cancer diagnosis, so it’s unsurprising to know she’ll be back timed to his return to Gaffney.
Speaking of familiar faces scrubbing back in. Manish Dayal is back as Dr. Theo Rabari and will be teaming up with Oliver Platt’s Dr. Charles to help a woman who will leave both doctors baffled. It’s always great when we get to see more of Theo and Charles together, and it should be fun seeing how the pair interact on this latest medical case.
Last, but certainly not least, we have Tamlyn Tomita and David Costabile returning as Frost’s parents, Celeste and James. The episode promises to be a big one for the Frost family when James is brought into the ED and it becomes apparent he and Celeste are keeping the truth about James' health from Frost.
