It's almost time for a bumper crop of fresh faces to join the One Chicago world. While all three One Chicago dramas are set to start a brand-new season this October, only two of the shows are confirmed to be adding new series regular cast members so far. A whole lot of familiar folks will be back to guide Chicago through some tough times, but these actors will be learning the ropes while viewers watch—and when one considers how tumultuous the last couple of seasons of all three dramas have been when it comes to cast turnovers, one can only wish them good luck.
Will franchise fans find their newest favorite character among this crop of thespians? Only time will tell. But until then, here’s a rundown of everyone who’ll be joining the OneChi world, which program they’ll be assigned to, and who they’ll be playing.
First up is Da’Vinchi, who will be trading guns for hoses after gaining fame on the Starz crime drama BMF. Da’Vinchi will be playing Marcus Burke, and he’s one of two firefighters who will be competing for a slot on the team. Burke will be a lighthearted type with a great sense of humor, and he seems likely to charm many members of the crew.
Matthew Daddario will be playing the fireman who rivals Marcus for a position at 51. His character has not been given a name in press releases, but several reports have confirmed that he will be in the
show and will be part of the newbie squad looking to join up with the team. Pictures of the two actors on-set and in uniform have been posted to Da’Vinchi’s Instagram (see above), which confirms the
fact that both characters will be trainees. Interestingly enough, it looks like the troubled Vasquez will be leading both men through their paces.
Over on Chicago Med, the new trailer for season 12 teased the possibility of two new characters being added to the show—an unnamed doctor and administrative figure. Given that NBC has not announced their casting ahead of the season, it seems likely that they'll play a smaller role in the overall season, perhaps guest starring or recurring.
Adding intrigue to the typical list of comings and goings that occur in any season, Chiago PD has a casting call out for an actor to step in as a brand-new, thus unnamed character who will presumably be replacing original cast member LaRoyce Hawkins’ Kevin Atwater on the drama. The show’s searching for a Black actor who will play a character that’s described as being an ‘agent of chaos.’ While a casting announcement hasn’t been made as of press time, this brand-new actor will be walking into a tense situation at the precinct and is set to play a major role in the show upon their introduction.
Time will tell if all of these new characters and actors will find their place in the One Chi world.
