As the Chicago Fire season 15 premiere inches closer to landing on our screens, the more fans are yearning for more information about what to expect. Naturally, we're all left reeling from the gripping season 14 cliffhanger, which left the lives of almost the entire Firehouse 51 team on the line. It's been a long summer of wondering who survives and who might not make it.
While the release of new teaser trailers for the season 15 have provided clues, and even confirmed a batch of characters who definitely survive the warehouse fire, there are still so many question marks hanging over certain characters' heads. That includes Chief Pascal, who was featured on the season 15 poster but hasn't been seen in any of the trailers NBC dropped for season 15.
Now, some Chicago Fire fans might be thinking that Pascal's absence from the trailers isn't that big of a deal. After all, Dermot Mulroney will be leaving the series and only appears in a limited number of season 15 episodes, which could even be wrapped up in the first episode. But as seasoned Fire viewers know, the series often speaks volumes with the characters that are excluded from promos.
Not to sensationalize concern, but the fact that Pascal isn't shown at all in the latest Chicago Fire season 15 trailer released by NBC should actually make fans worry about the character's fate. Whether in scenes from the continued warehouse fire or scenes that take place after the situation has been resolved, every other major character is visibly seen. But not Pascal.
It's definitely quite the bait and switch to consider that Pascal could be in harm's way, especially given where his story was left by the end of season 14 and his placement outside the building overlooking the disaster unfolding before his eyes. When the season 14 finale aired, he was one of the only characters assumed safe, along with Violet and Novak, as they watched from the sidelines.
But Pascal being missing from the promos so far and the inevitability of Mulroney's exit from the series is quickly adding up to the suspicion that he could actually be the one in harm's way. Just because he was standing on the sidelines and not part of the squad fighting this fire doesn't mean he didn't step in to assist his team and wind up on the wrong side of the explosion.
That would be one way to write out both the character to make Mulroney's exit easier. It doesn't necessary mean that Pascal's death is on the way, though it could be, but him being the one to either not survive or sustain a serious injury is a convenient exit strategy. We already know that Violet and Novak are likely dropping one of their own off at Gaffney, but their identity remains a mystery.
Pascal's absence from the season 15 promotional teasers makes an unavoidable case for his possible demise, but there's no doubt fans will continue to be worried about Cruz. Joe Miñoso will also be written out of the series early on into the series after the actor's departure from the series was confirmed. The team and series killing off Cruz, an original character, would be much sadder.
No matter which character gets killed off, if any are, it will be a blow to the series and the Firehouse 51 team. There are no good options. Maybe none of the characters will be killed off and other consequences from the warehouse fire will be explored. We'll find out what the future holds for Chicago Fire when season 15 makes its premiere on Wednesday, Oct. 7 at 9/8c on NBC.
