It's official. Blue Bloods has been on an interesting journey during its fourteenth season. CBS stated it would be the last, but fans AND cast members pushed against this idea by putting forth the idea that there were more stories to tell. Unfortunately, the chances of a last minute renewal have been taken off the table.

Amy Reisenbach, the President of Entertainment at CBS, confirmed that the police drama would not be coming back for a fifteenth season or a spinoff. "We are going to end the show come December," she recently told reporters. "We really want to thank the cast and crew, everyone involved in the show."

The President also noted how important sticking the landing of Blue Bloods is to both the network and the creators. She asserted that it's better to go out on a high note than stick around for too long, and diminish the quality of the Blue Bloods franchise. "We absolutely will miss the family dinners," she added. "It is important to give show the sendoff it deserves."

It was understandable that fans were holding out hope for a Blue Bloods renewal. Tom Selleck and the rest of the cast were game to return for more episodes, and Bridget Moynahan even expressed how sad she was that the show was ending during a recent talk show appearance. There was also the precedent of SWAT, a show that CBS canceled and then renewed after several months.

Blue Bloods will not get a renewal or spinoff in 2025

Forgive Us Our Trespasses
“Forgive Us Our Trespasses” – Danny and Baez team up with Danny’s old partner, Jackie Curatola (Jennifer Esposito), to find a copycat killer emulating murders from a previous case. Also, Frank and Mayor Chase (Dylan Walsh) battle over how best to handle the city’s rising homeless population; and Jamie, Eddie and Erin team up to build evidence against a previously released man who they believe is again committing criminal assault, on the 13th season finale of BLUE BLOODS, Friday, May 19 /

Unfortunately, Reisenbach has put the final nail in the coffin for fans. This season will officially mark the end of the Blue Bloods saga. It's something the President of Entertainment relayed with a heavy heart, especially given that she took time to praise the cast and crew:

"We love this cast, we love their passion for the show. All shows have to come to an end. It’s important to us to refresh the schedule. "

The silver lining, of course, is that Blue Bloods has already been operating as though this will be the final season. The show has brought back characters from the past to give them a proper sendoff, and the relationships between the protagonists are being amplified in ways that we hadn't previously seen.

We're excited to see how they stick the landing, now that they know for sure the landing is imminent.
