Chicago PD isn't new tonight, and here's when the show is set to return
Chicago PD has been on a creative roll as of late. The last few episodes have been some of the best and boldest of season 11, pushing characters like Voight (Jason Beghe) and Dante Torres (Benjamin Levy Aguilar) into new dramatic territory. We're excited to see where things go as the season winds down, but we will have to wait, as there is no new episode of PD on tonight.
In fact, there will no new episodes of Chicago PD for the rest of April. NBC has confirmed that they will be airing reruns of earlier season 11 episodes for the next three weeks, which is frustrating to hear since fans just had to wait out a two week delay before the LAST two episodes. It can often feel like the show stops just as its gaining dramatic momentum.
Chicago PD will be off the air in April
Unfortunately, the decision is not entirely up to NBC. The Hollywood strikes delayed the release of new Chicago PD episodes by months, and as such, the current season is roughly half the amount of episodes as normal. In an effort to make season 11 last as long as it can, given its shortened length, NBC has decided to take more breaks between episodes.
It makes sense on paper, even if it can be difficult for fans who are eager to find out what happens to their favorite characters. The good news is that one Chicago PD returns in May, it should air mostly uninterrupted for the rest of the season. It's also exciting to know that fans won't have to wait very long to get new episodes once we get into May, since episode 10 will air on Wednesday, May 1.

There hasn't been much revealed about episode 10 in terms of title or synopsis, but given that there are only a few episodes left in the season, we assume that the focus will be split between two major storylines: the engagement and eventual marriage of Adam Ruzek (Patrick John Flueger) and Kim Burgess (Marina Squerciati), and the departure of Hailey Upton (Tracy Spiridakos).
Both storylines have been on the back burner for most of season 11, so now is the time to capitalize on them, especially since Upton will no longer be part of the show come 2025.
