Chicago PD promo photos confirm Petrovic will return from rehab

We'll be honest, we didn't expect Josephine Petrovic (Bojana Novakovic) to stick around this long. The character seemed like she would have 1-2 episodes tops, and then reveal a damaging secret that led to her being forced to turn in her badge. She did have a damaging secret, her drinking problem, but it did not stop Hailey Upton (Tracy Spiridakos) from continuing to work with her on abduction cases.

Petrovic has effectively become a new member of the IU in Chicago PD's eleventh season. She has been a steady presense during the back end of the season, and has been around even when core members like Hank Voight (Jason Beghe) have been missing! (Don't worry, Voight will be back).

Petrovic recently checked into rehab on PD

The character may very well be Upton's replacement once the latter exits the show, but she's got some demons to address before then. The episode "Buried Pieces" saw Petrovic's drinking scale brand new heights in terms of being a problem, and even she realized that she needed help.

She checked into rehab by the end of the episode, which led some fans to question whether we'd see her again in season 11. We're happy to confirm that Petrovic will be back for the end of the season. In fact, the character will be back on the job as soon as episode 11012, which is only two removed from "Buried Pieces" (11010).

She will be back for the episode "Inventory"

NBC released the promo photos for 11012, which is titled "Inventory," and Petrovic is right in the thick of the action. The character can be seen wielding a gun during a firefight and working next to Upton to get a wounded victim to safety.

The two have become something of a duo within the larger framework of Chicago PD, despite the tension they seem to exhibit on a weekly basis. "Buried Pieces" saw a drunken Petrovic go after her colleague for having a drunken father and failing to address the trauma of her recent divorce. Not the most fun dynamic, but they make it work.

We're relieved that Petrovic will be back, but we're curious to see how she manages to keep her drinking at bay after such a short stint in rehab. It may be an issue that carries over into season 12.
